Marathon Public Library is a branch of the Alpine Public Library. We are a great little library with wonderful community support. Marathon Public Library had their summer reading party on August 11, 2007. The winner of our first treasure was Capri Garlick who read 42 books this summer. Congradulations to Capri for a great success. Capri had to go on a treasure hunt for her treasure through the tree of the Skelton of Blackbeard, across the propane desert to find Zoro’s glove, to the parrot island where Blackbeard’s favorite parrot ate her clue, next to the Governer’s Palace to the hangman’s arch, and finally to the bell to dig up her buried treasure.  The treasure chest was heavy to retrieve containing small pot of gold coins for her treasure. We all had a wonderful time. We shared chili, cheese dogs and rootbeer floats. All the children received a treasure, donated by friends, and a book donated from Five Owls. We wish to thank all of our wonderful volunteers that made our program a great success, all the little pirates and their parents for coming to the programs. Have a great school year. Arrrrr!!!!!!! From, Carol, Captain Steve and MPL crew. rabbitt-025.jpg
