Spanish Story Time will not be held on February 15 as the library will be closed for Presidents’ Day.

Pajama Story Time!

Pajama Story Time will be held on February 27, at 7:00 p. m. in the Children’s Room.  Come watch a puppet show, listen to stories, make a teddy bear puppet and look at sugar crystals under a microscope.  Scissors and small buttons will be used during craft time.  Be sure to wear your pajamas!

A partir del 1 de febrero, este programa se ofrecerá cada primer y tercer lunes del mes a las 4:15 p. m.  Todos son beinvenidos.

Beginning February 1, the Alpine Public Library will hold a Spanish language story time.  This program will meet every first and third Monday of the month at 4:15 p. m. in the Junior room.  All ages are welcome.

Essay Contest!

The Alpine Public Library is conducting  an essay contest for all area students in seventh or eighth grade.  The book The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, is the subject of this contest.  Essay questions and instructions are available at the front desk of the library.  The deadline for this contest in January 29.

Alpine Book Club

The club meets in the Junior Room every Thursday, 4:30-5:00 p. m.  We’ll start with Because of Winn-Dixie, by Kate DiCamillo, on January 28.  A few chapters will be read every week, and each meeting will begin with a short review of previous chapters.

Alpine Book Club is for kids 8 years and older.

Pajama Story Time!

Don your pajamas and come to the Alpine Public Library on Saturday, January 23, at 7:00pm for and evening of fun.  Watch a puppet show, hear stories, make a snowman craft project, and look at a piece of Frosty’s carrot nose under a microscope.  This program is free and will last about an hour.  Scissors and glue are used during craft time.

Snowflake Class!

Learn to make a hexagonal snowflake at the Alpine Public Library.  Meet in the Children’s room on Thursday, January 21, at 4:15PM.  We’ll hear the amazing story about Snowflake Bentley and then make snowflakes.  This program is for kids 8 years and older.

Lap-Sit Story Time

Lap-Sit Story Time will resume January 5, 2010.  Please meet in the Children’s room at 10:30am.  This is a reading program for children ages 0-4 years.

Winter Reading Program!

All kids are invited to participate in the Winter Reading Program.  Here is how it works:

1. Kids read three books of their choice between the dates of Dec.15 and Jan.15.  Books may be from a school library, the public library, a church library or from other sources.

2. Fill out the snowflake-reading log.  (Reading logs are available at the library if one was not received by your child at school.)

3. Return the reading log to the front desk and choose a small gift from the snowman gift basket.
