The Marathon Public Library wishes to thank Arlene and Steve Griffis for the wonderful Christmas gathering at their home on Dec. 15, 2007. Everyone enjoyed the wonderful spaghetti, Lasagna, salads and cheese cake for desert. We had a white elephant gift exchange and it was great. We had around 18 Friends attend the party. Merry Christmas to all.

Alco’s Store Manager delivered a check for $235.17 to Alpine Public Library’s Director, Anitra Clausen, Monday. The money was raised through the store’s annual cute baby contest, the winner of which was Mia Dominguez of Marfa. The funds will be used to supplement the library’s easy to read book collection, to help foster a love of reading from infancy.
Thank you again for your responses to the Question of the Month:

Interested in reading a review ……….23.08%
Interested in writing a review ……….10.26%
Interested in both ……….38.46%
Not interested ……….25.64%
The good news is that 74.36% of you are interested in the review process!
Stay posted for more details on reading and writing book reviews for the library. The Question of the Month is going to go on hiatus for the month of December. However, be sure to look again in January for a new Question of the Month.

Carol and Hal Henthrone played a variety of music for the Marathon Public Library, Christmas Open House, on November 30th at 6PM. Santa helpers showed up and passed out 35 Santa bags to all the children. Light refreshments were served, trees lighted and 60 guest joined in all the fun. Everyone joined in the singing of Christmas Carols.
I gave a small gift of wine and glasses to the three couples who volunteered the most this year at MPL. The gifts went to:
Steve and Arlene Griffis, Hal and Carol Henthrone, Sande Pedro and Mike Mountz. I wish to thank our board members who attended and all our patrons and volunteers. We all had a wonderful time. Please come and visit our little library.
Statues greeting everyone to the door were donated by Steve Griffis.
Merry Christmas everyone.
