Alpine Public Library News

That is actually the title of one of my favorite songs by Reba McEntire. It is about a person trying to contact another person using the telephone. She talks about all the features of the telephone that could help the person contact her. She even checks with the operator to make sure that her phone line isn’t an excuse for not hearing from the other person. Just before the chorus she asks, “Darlin’, honey, what is your excuse? Why haven’t I heard from you?”

By now you are probably wondering what this has to do with the Alpine Public Library. Well, there is an invention that most of our patrons have at their disposal which can facilitate excellent communication with the library. It’s called e-mail.

You are more than welcome to contact the staff of the Alpine Public Library via e-mail. Use this handy tool to do such things as ask reference questions, reserve materials and renew materials. We will do our best to reply to your e-mail within 24 hours.

So now, why hasn’t the Alpine Public Library heard from you?

Yesterday was more than just the first day of August at the Alpine Public Library. It also marked the beginning of our modified checkout procedures.

One of the best changes for local patrons was the change from a three day movie checkout period to seven days. The idea was first suggested by a local patron who said it would be easier for her to return her movies if the due date corresponded with her weekly library visits. After listening carefully to other patrons, it was noticed that this was a feeling shared by many.

We were pleased to see that many patrons were delighted to have more time with their movies. Staff has personally received thanks from happy patrons. We are glad to extend this and many other services to make life easier for our patrons.
